Although the date when this photo was taken is unknown, these ladies were an early graduating class at Converse College. The doors of Converse opened October 1, 1890, but the first step towards the founding of the college was taken a year earlier, when a prominent attorney assembled a group of Spartanburg citizens to discuss the project.
